Hotty Toddy

Monday September 6, 2010

My first week at Ole Miss quickly came and passed and I am about to begin week 3! Unbelievable! Where does the time go? My first week I ate ice cream in the grove with my buddy Emily Irvin, met a couple of cool cats in my classes, and went to a few campus ministries to figure out which one I liked best.

I found my first week to be a little overwhelming, each time I felt discouraged I would say a little prayer and then everything would be okay. I kept reminding myself it is only the first week! Surely things will get better. Life is what you make it. I have heard that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react or respond to it. This is so true!

My room here in Oxford is so cute! The Littlejohn's have helped me to feel so at home here in Oxford. I have also enjoyed meeting some cool people at the BSU. My first Friday night in Oxford I went to Graceland too with some really fun people. I rode with Jordan, Emily, and David BECKham! They enjoyed singing "gLee". I fell in love with a woman named Liz Thurmond this week she is absolutely hip and she loves God so much. She pours her heart in to serving others and her singleness is displayed as such a beautiful thing. She brings such glory to God and it is an inspiration to me!

Cameron came to visit yesterday. I love that kid, as crazy as he is. He has a way of making people feel comfortable. I didn't really get to talk to him much because he is such a celebrity it Tupelo. We did get to eat at our favorite place in Tupelo, Danver's. yummmm yumm! Probably the cheapest place to eat and get free ice cream =)
However, it was time to part (again). And my car was filled with saddness on the ride home. I couldn't bear listening to any of my great mixed CD's in my car so I rode in silence.. arriving home I had to soak off my saddness with some warm relaxing suds. ahhh a warm bath is a sanctuary. Then I realized that he stole my book! That thug!

This was the perfect labor day weekend, even though I was "laboring" at the Little's Jewelers. The weather was phenomenal and I got to see my "mall" boyfrand, Benny Booooo! All the Ballard girls were home for the weekend. It was good seeing Joannah and Sarah Kathryn. This morning Brucey made us some good ol' breakfast!

Friday September 10, 2010

Ahh what a week.. I'm just now posting because I saved this post as a draft.
Hmmmm. eventfulness? yes.
I'm taking applications for friendship. I went to Phi Lamb rush Wednesday and Thursday night. I brought some of my friends from Northeast Amanda Spencer, Joannah Derrick, and Kelly Osterhouse. It really gives off a summer camp vibe being there but I love how all individual all the girls are and the soul binder of them is the one true God. love it!

Tuesday night Layken and I venture off to Florence, Alabama to see Fairwell Flight. love those guys! It turned out to be a flop but I feel like God brought us there for a reason and I'm not quite sure what that is yet. We filled the car up with conversations of greatness. We talked about 90's movies and serendipity.

I have come to realize that everything is going to be okay.

that is a good note to end on.

love,

A

Summa time ramblings

Sarah Kathryn is downstairs playing piano and the whole house is filled with the sounds of a young Mozart in training. As I hurried up the stairs I felt like I was running late for a dance recital.. It is Seemingly something how classical music and ballet fall hand in hand. I believe it is because they are so complementary to one another. Lots of things in life are complementary. The love of beauty is complementary to my heart.. I do believe. I just keep daydreaming about my time to come at Ole Miss and what it will be like. I can not wait to be in the grove where there are enough trees for anyone who cares to sit and delight in it's shade. To me that is the core of beauty. Enjoying simplicity in a hectic world filled with jam-packed schedules, hurrys and worries.

This afternoon I had the honor of partaking in an afternoon tea party with some captivating young ladies. I can not remember all of their names but I am sure I will never forget them. We played games and conversated on handshakes and the neccessities of a firm, but non-agressive shake. It felt as if we were reading from the script of Gilmore Girls.

I spent the night with Emilee and Layken Friday night only to wake up with the chickens and go from yard to yard rummaging for tresures with Sarah Burpo. We pulled Emilee's bed into the living room so that we could watch TV.. but we found ourselves chatting by the glow of the television about how "good" movies just aren't made these days. We miss movies like Stepmom and You've Got Mail.. where are those directors that we loved in the 90'S and can they please make us some movies where the settings are beautiful and the characters are ones we fall in love with by their enchanting personalities and charm. Meg Ryan?! Where are you?! Please get back on the big screen!!!

Tomorrow is the first day of my last week as a community college student. Northeast has been great and I am thankful for all that it had to offer me.

That's all for tonight.

Tonights the night!

Tonight is graduation at Northeast, though I am only transfering I feel as if it is a huge turning point in my life. Northeast represents a huge part of me! Cam helped me write my graduation speech as we talked about what to put into it we talked about all of our great memories of northeast, the people that we met surpasses all memories! The people are who touch your life!

I am nervous about tonight, but what must be said must be said.
I am so thankful for all the people that invested into my life and poured into me! I've learned so much and grown as a person. I found God, when I looked for Him with my whole heart!

The past couple of days I have stayed with Kelly and her great family! We've enjoyed talking about life and love and God. She made a new blog hers is kellybelleblog.blogspot.com you should check it out she is a pretty amazing writer!

Soooo.. I totally miss my best friend

Last Saturday, Cam and I went to the Gumtree art and music festival in downtown Tupelo, we made a fruit man at kiddy corner, and a paperbag hat, we ate with some cool cats at cafe 212 and walked around enjoying a pretty day.

Yesterday was the last day of the best two years of my life. It was my final day as a student at Northest Community College. It was incredible, and at times I am ashamed to say that I wished it away.. but now that it is over I am glad I did it. I am excited about all the fun days that await for me at Ole Miss and I know that it will be great. No one can ever take away all of my fond memories of Northeast. The tears, the laughter, the excitement, and the anticipation! I never thought that time would pass so quickly! I've learned so much and made some life friends and learned some huge lessons. I learned how to love and I learned how to be a friend. I've learned how real God is. I could not imagine what my life would be like if I would not have gone to Northeast. I wouldn't take it back for the world.I am so glad that God knew I was suppose to be at Northeast, it was something that I tried to fight, but ultimately He had a plan! Now, I see the bigger picture and He was so right.

In the mean time I'm still pretty addicted to reading www.dearbabyblog.com it just seems like Melissa has it all figured out she loves life and she loves her family. It seems like she has all the right odds a beautiful baby, a hot musician husband, and an amazing setting to live her fairytale story.

This summer, I plan to live out some of my goals on my life list. First on my list is learn to play an instrument. I am buying a used guitar and I have the whole summer to soak up as much knowledge on music as I can. There is something I love about Tupelo in the summer. All of my friends come home from college. Summer days are warm and lazy. I can stay up all night and never grow weary. I'm excited about spending the summer with some of my friends. This is a summer before a big adventure. It is definitely going to be a summer to remember and I have a new journal which makes me really excited!

Saturday January 23rd

A Special Day of 49’s
The distinguished aroma of corndogs overflowed from Proud Larry's into the air of Oxford’s square. We walked and talked as we window shopped. We were drawn into Southside Art Gallery like oppositely charged magnets. We discussed art and literature... how mature. Until we saw Holly's Sweet Tooth! Our eyes got big and our stomachs even bigger as we became amazed, like children in a candy store. (literally) Such a variety of every type of candy sorted by color and taste, jelly beans of every means! I knew I shouldn’t have worn my skinny jeans! A line formed out the door... we could not wait for ice creams made of every child’s dreams. Days are quick! The suns in and then it’s out... Like a flame on a candle wick. Winding down the afternoon, I was delighted with good company and a cup of welch's sparkling grape juice as we chatted with Charles Vesey and Louis Lane. Pajamas and re-run soap operas – seems like an evening complete! When Pam awakes birthday cards with drawings of birthday cakes waits! I love all of these things that make for a weekend with the Littlejohn’s!

a day off continued... my date with TYLER LITTLEJOHN

after a much needed day off i took a long bath, blow dryed my hair, and transformed myself for my hott date with tyler littlejohn. tyler picked me up from barnes & noble from there we went to the olive garden where we enjoyed bread sticks with white cheese sauce and salad to begin our meal. while eating my salad my fork flew out of my hand. we called it flying forks. we both ate pasta he went steak i went chicken. we talked and laughed, just like we always do. i told him that i baked him muffins - however, i managed to eat all six of them today! ooops. there goes my new year's resolution! he is a perfect gentleman. he is a door opener which really means something these days. i felt like i was in a movie. my night ended with a caramel machiato from starbucks and tyler then walked me to my car where we made out. (that's a joke if you haven't figured that out already) he's a 10.

a day off

sometimes it is hard to find myself away from the jewelry store. what i would do with all that extra time? well, today was free from work and school. if i had more money i would have a day to play. however, i find myself baking blueberry muffins and licking the batter off the spoon. i am doing laundry and unloading the dishwasher and dancing around the apartment as i listen to pandora radio. all of these things have to be done, especially the dancing around part. :)

i woke up at about lunch time and i met courtney and justin at johnnie's drive in, a staple in tupelo, known for their famous dough burgers and of course elvis presley. it is always nice to do lunch.

tonight, i have a hott date with tyler littlejohn. i am very excited! he is taking me to the olive garden.

i will blog about it when i get in tonight. until then, happy blogging!

you've got mail

what a classic. i had the honor of watching this movie with an old friend tonight. listening to the click of my own type reminds me of the beautiful clicking in this 90s film. movies seem to have lost their goodness. it is almost as if they have run out of fresh ideas. movies are just spins off of another person's originality. everything just gets lost and people forget where they have stored their creativity.

courtney came in from seattle tonight and i was so glad to see her. we caught up and chatted about life for a while. the aroma of chocolate chip cookies filled the two bedroom apartment. after a few weeks of distance i have had time to re-cooperate from a semester of 24/7 living with someone. i am ready for this new semester. we will have our late night dance parties and raid each others closets once again. courtney, if you are reading this, i want my pearls back. i am excited about the encouragement and growth in Christ with my roomie as the new year begins.

thomas came over and ate a couple of cookies and chatted with courtney and myself. i hope that i can go to seattle with courtney in the spring.

new years resolutions continued - save money for air fare.

a New Year a New Me

Every person tries to better themselves at the beginning of a new year. They set goals that will make them a new and improved overall better them.
a new ali

1. Trust God completely.
2. Don't waste so much time on facebook.
3. Get in shape. Workout and lose those stubborn, unwanted pounds.
4. Be wise with money.
5. Read more.
just to name a few

I found myself in Barnes & Noble this afternoon with Cameron, Ben, and Spencer. I met some cool cats and then I watched a movie with Peeping Thomas.

I'm ready for this new semester to begin. I believe each chapter will be better than the last. I am excited about the things God has in store.

Time flies. Can I?
